IU faculty, staff and students invited to Health and Benefits Fair to learn more about health and wellness resources
Nov. 2, 2016
IU faculty, staff and students can learn more about health and wellness opportunities and employee benefits during the upcoming IU Health and Benefits Fair.
This is the first year IU is combining its annual health fair with its annual benefits fair.
The event, sponsored by Human Resources and the IU Health Center, takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Indiana Memorial Union and will feature more than 60 campus and community resources.
“We are very excited to merge the IU Health Fair with the IU Employee Benefits Fair,” said Barbara Moss, health educator and assistant director for educational outreach at the IU Health Center. “This should provide an even greater opportunity for IU Bloomington’s employees and students to learn about the wide array of wellness resources available to them on campus and in the community.”
The health fair portion will take place in Alumni Hall and the Solarium and will feature representatives from Healthy IU, Rec Sports, Bloomington Professional Council, IU Counseling and Psychological Services, the Monroe County Public Health Clinic, the American Cancer Society and more.
The event will also offer free chair massages, aromatherapy, eye exams by the Atwater Eye Care Center, hearing tests by the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences, free food and giveaways.
Flu shots will also be available for eligible IU staff, faculty and students, but not spouses. Cost for employees not covered under an IU insurance plan is $35. Bring your employee ID number and, to limit your wait time, fill out the registration form available online.
“The fair is always a great community event, with interactive booths and many campus and local health vendors that can address everything from mental and physical health to sexual and social health,” said Cathlene Hardy Hansen, director of health and wellness education at the IU Health Center.
The benefits portion will take place in the Frangipani Room and the Dogwood Room. Employees can learn about employee benefits, receive help enrolling or changing their health plan, and learn about IU community offers from vendors in attendance, including IU Employee Assistance Program, Anthem, Human Resources Retirement Program Services, IU Employee Assistance Program, Care.com, Nyhart and Cigna.
Open enrollment information sessions will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Dogwood Room. Sessions on IU’s high deductible health plan and IU’s Health Savings Account will take place at noon.
